Lost and found

I have disappeared from here for quite a while. To tell the truth, I have been writing, but those posts... well, I kinda decided not to post them.

Right now I'm still considering how much "emotions" I would allow myself to display here. Recent lessons learnt taught me that I need to be extremely careful before I get used by others again. And certainly allowing others to peek too much into your head is not good, especially now that we're in the "real" world, dealing with many "real" selfish and materialistic people.

I am struggling to remain "pure" hearted and fighting to keep the bit of me who like to help people. But I do know that my helping hand is stretched very selectively now. Not to say that I'm not willing to help most people, but I'm extremely "selfish" to certain people now. I had to do so, before this people strip away my last bit of good will and faith in humanity.

I am just not as "selfless" as Harry Potter...

Bad. Worse. Worst.

I feel bad. I know many people would be in worse situations than I am. But the worst is yet to come.

Seriously feeling some pressure from work. I see a desperate need for me to absorb as much as I can, as fast as I can, if not I'll continue to be "no-help" to my boss. Knowing me, I never enjoy sitting in any position without contributing enough. By saying "enough" here, I mean to my standard of sufficiency, not somebody else's.

But I guess what's driving my nerves the most wasnt my job, but a few people. One of the most important thing that you need to learn when you step into the "real" world is - how FAKE and REALISTIC some bastards can be. These people will choose to extend their so-called friendship only to those that they feel will somehow bring them some benefit. (yeah I have already experienced that one year ago. and you know exactly that I'm talking about you.) They will be all nice and friendly and polite to those rich and/or influencial people. Meanwhile for the less rich and influencial person like me, they will not bother to pay you respect; they'll just reply your questions with "none of your business", "forgot" to include you in their mailing list, "forgot" to invite you when they go for lunch or movie, "forgot" to notice your existence. (to those who thinks that they're still a kind person, time to stop and think whether you're doing all these to someone.)

The second best part about these people is - they always think that they outsmart everybody else. They'll only pay you respect (notice you existence) when you nod to every single word that they say. When you start to pipe up with your own views which they don't agree, they will never ever stop and reconsider whether what they think is wrong, but immediately they'll think that you're simply dumb for not listening to the "smart" ones. (yeah, cant believe it, but I'm part of the dumb group.) Well, it did annoy me in the starting. But now come to think of it, I should just "accept" their ignorance and let them pay the price later.

22 Dec 2008:
Conclusion - one type of rice feeds hundreds type of people. All we can do is to increase the level of acceptance, over and over again...

Sick. Sien.

Suffering from food poisoning caused by some unknown reason. All I know is that my stomach started to feel uncomfortable after I took the choc milk this morning. And my bro just suffered from the same series of symptoms 2 days ago...

Anyway I know that there is a pile of "toxic waste" in my body and I just cant figure out how I can get it out. Would appreciate if you can share with me any pain-less ways to do that. (I know that the best way is to use my finger and make myself vomit, but very painful ler.)

Breakdown

Broke down last night, after fighting hard to all sorts of depressing matters in the past 2 weeks. I guess it's just part of an emotional cycle. We accumulate our depressions and unhappiness, wait until we reach our storage limit then we burst. Though I'm still in the recovery stage now, I must say that at least now, the scale of my breakdowns is much more manageable compared to the past. And I'm very grateful to have a super efficient "emotion" waste management system by my side =)

Many people may not understand what I see in him; to a lot of people, he's just another boy next door with no special ability. But to me, he has the very ability of making me a better person; at least now, I'm able to look at more things on the positive side, forgive others more easily (you have no idea how some bastards have attacked me recently), be more appreciative to things that are given to me, and in conclusion, I'm more happy with my life than I have ever been in my life.

But of course "more happy" doesnt mean that life is perfect. I still face numerous problems and doubts. But no matter how tough the road ahead is, we still need to move on...

Anyway, still a bit down now... later will "peras ugut" someone for something to cheer me up... maybe dessert will do... that's some kinda privilege that I hardly got to enjoy before this =P

In The End

Got home around 4.30pm (record-breaking) and my room is really really bloody hot...

Argh. I still havent got the time (and discipline) to update my Houston trip post. and now I've got my Penang trip to update somemore...

Anyway this 2 weeks I'll be attending course (break from work). Haha.

I dunno what to say here. There are things stuck in my head which I really wish I could just splurt out but I know I shouldn't disclose too much of my personal thoughts here. Well, obviously if I write it out, everyone will know whom I'm talking about, and obviously I shouldn't even be talking or thinking about this person's wellbeing anyway.

Better to just zip my mouth...

Convocation

Well, convocation = 3 days of hectic rushing here and there, never ending smiling and posing for photos, really happy to meet old friends, really nice flowers and gifts, and also huge amount of money spent =P

Haha... But it was indeed a very very happy experience. We were all chatting and laughing all the way, from queueing until in the hall =) And I always remembered that WT and I have vowed that we will graduate together on the first day (back then 1st class will all graduate on 1st day). And now we've made it =)
And it felt super nice when you're in the hall sitting with all your coursemates, then turn around and talk to garfield and Cloud and JM, while Mil was just 2 rows in front of me. It felt really good when everyone that you treasure the most are right around you in the glorious moment =)
And of course my parents were there, but they were seated kinda faraway though. I must admit that it feels so good to stay at home, have dinner and chat with them every night. It's definitely worth whatever amount of allowance that I'm missing out =)

OK. Now, time for some photos.... (in chronological order)

Wow, it's been so long since I last posted anything. I really need to discipline myself and devote some time to share 2 important events that occured recently: Houston trip and Convocation =)

Anyway life's busy. 8 hrs a day goes to work, and I think I only have 4 hrs free time everyday, and from which I'll spend an hour on phone, an hour on TV (or more), dinner one hour, online one hour...

Work's busy too. Spending a lot of time on attending courses or things other than work....

Anyway I lurve to be busy =)

Freezing in hotel lobby...

Onlining using the public computers in the hotel lobby, the only downside of it is that its freezing cold here... all thanks to azl, who locked the laptop in his room while he went out for a free trip around Houston with one of our colleagues in Houston =P

Too cold to think... and since garfield is leaving his office for lunch, I might as well just go back n prepare to sleep...

1st day in Houston

We arrived at the hotel about 12am last night after 24 hours of flight and transits. Was very very exhausted and the jet lag was causing me headaches. Then I started to wonder whether I'm really those "travelling" type of people. The kinda adventurous spirit that I had when I travelled alone around California 2 years ago seemed to have evaporated. I dont really feel that excited to be away. Instead, I started to really miss everything that I have in Malaysia.

My bed baby doggy garfield wira and mobile communication... Maybe I'm too used to talking over the phone everyday for an hour, too used to driving around without having to walk (today we walked 15 mins under the burning sun just to get to Wal Mart)... I'm just home sick...

Using a public computer in the lobby now, coz azl is using the laptop....

Will have more updates (and photos) when I get the laptop (if I have time)...

(time shown is local time in Houston)

Thanks =)

Today is a happy day (though a rather unlucky one)...
I received wishes from garfield, Jun Hao, Qian Zheng, Chin Liang, Wen Jie, CQ, Lian See, Yew Fatt, Sook Fun, TL, FS, Mildred, Yew Jin
Received 2 lovely presents from Mildred and garfield =) thanks a lot... hugs...

And garfield brought me to Roadhouse Grill (along Jln Ampang) for dinner =)
well, why I said today was a rather unlucky day? We took bus to the restaurant. But it rained so heavily until we got stucked at the bus stop overlooking the restaurant for almost 15 mins. And when we finally ran into the place, both our pants r half wet. I was shivering top to bottom when I sat down at the table...
But the soup and hot drink was good, particularly for a cold hungry person like me...

Chic "o" Chino (cappucino + milo) RM 4.50
a bucket of peanuts on the table - eat all you can for free =P

Hot Chicken Pasta Soup RM7.50

Super big portion Fish and Chips RM 18.90

Country Chicken Chop with mushroom sauce RM 23.90

Well, gotta go back to packing now... flying in 3 days time and my bag is still half empty...

Boycott Ci**bank

In foul mood now, better jot it down now before garfield helps to flush away all my anger... need a reminder of this incident so that I'll remember to complain kao kao and lobby everyone around to boycott this bank!!!

OK. Here's what happened.

3 weeks ago, garfield, Lio and me were persuaded by a nice lady from Ci**bank to sign up for their credit card. She kept stressing that it's very very easy to get a card from this bank, free for life, and we'll be fine without our pay slip as they only need our employment contract.

And so we thought, well yeah, nothing to lose, and we filled in the form n sent in our contract.

Then passed a week. and 2. and 3.

i got more and more anxious as I really need the card for my US trip. I tried calling that lady to her desk phone and also her cell phone (numbers are provided on her business card which I now doubt whether its a coax). She never picked up the phone.

Today I lost my patience. 4 days away from my flight to US. I cant just sit and wait. I called the card center and guess what? I found out that they've rejected my application 2 weeks ago and they never bother to inform me!!!!

I got really really pissed off and i demanded the customer service ppl to give me an explanation.
But all they could say is:
"The reason of rejection is confidential."
"We're very sorry"
"Would you like me to pass the call to that sales agent?"

Idiot.
Cant believe that this is how the so-called international bank do business.

My points are:
1. If you reject, thank you very much, please inform me so that I can go to other banks who would like to earn my money.

2. I feel very uncomfortable now with the fact that I was never able to contact the sales agent. I'm seriously doubting whether she has taken our personal details and sold it for some bad reasons.

3. Never trust in these so-called international BIG banks. The way they do business is just as nasty as any other roadside hawkers. They just dont value their potential customers (well, they may think that I'm poor now, but I wont be poor forever), and they failed to realize that all those people that they don't value have mouths too (and blogs).

So people, I believe there are other banks who would put in more respect and value in their customers. At least I never felt so pissed off throughout my whole life while I'm banking with M**bank.

Boycott Ci**bank.

Busy Busy Busy

Been very busy this week, totally the opposite of the so-called honeymoon life for new grads that I heard from seniors...

But the good news is - my Houston trip is confirmed!! XD
So will be there for 2 weeks for a course, and plan to visit Pei at LA during the transit...
(But I guess I wont be going overseas in the next whole year... the costs is so huge to send us to Houston...)

Plenty of things to do now for the trip... somemore with my original work load... and hopefully everything goes well next monday so that I can go Miri for training (and see MV) =)
just cant wait to see my dear fren and claim my free dinner... haha...

Transformers

Spent whole day in KLCC: morning went to work out at gym (and i'm getting more and more addicted to gym), and afternoon we watched Transformers...

I've never been a fan of transformers, so I went in with a total blank mind with no idea of what's going on at all except knowing that these transformers are a pile of metal pieces who "
transforms" =P

Well, overall I liked the movie. Plenty of humour in it, in fact the whole cinema laughed all the way (except of the final fighting part of course). And the auto-bots are so cute =P but the downside of the movie is, the actions are just too exciting for me until i felt a bit drowsy with those flying up and down scenes...

And another surprise - Linkin Park's what I've done is a major soundtrack, and it appeared in the movie!! (i'm ashamed to say that I'm a LP fan...)

Work Life Balance

My head is totally blank now, when i get home from work. Thats a prob to me. I need to figure out a way to draw a line between my working and non-working life. Well, now I can say that I'm partially succesful in doing so, but the side effect is that I'm roaming around the house with a blank mind. even when I read the papers, words just dont seem to register into my head.

Working Life

Today was my 2nd day at work. Well, my starting is a bit adventurous. Yesterday I reported to 2 places, and today I reported to the 3rd location, and this is where I'll be working for at least the next coming 2 yrs.

Feel really exhausted now. I think my stamina and working capacity have dropped seriously after my 2 months break. Guess i'll need some time to allow my body to adjust to my new life style...

Overall I'm quite happy with my job now. The company is taking good care of us, the colleagues are all very friendly and helpful, and my job seems to be quite interesting and challenging...

But anyway, i'm just too tired to write anything interesting now. Nitez...

Father's Day

Today is my last day before my working life starts... Spent whole day in Klang + Subang Parade...
Well, spending money always makes me feel happy =P
and today I spent Rm180 for my new pair of Nike...
I just need it, before i can go for any trials at gyms.
And i just got myself a free 7 days pass @ Celebrity Fitness Subang Parade =)
hopefully will be able to go there this coming weekend. I'm allowed to bring guests, so anyone who's interested pls sms me XD
OK. Back to topic. Father's Day. and so 3 aunties (including my mum) decided to buy 3 dads a dinner. And so we went to the new Restaurant Laut Sungai Yu @ Klang. The business is so good, until all the tables were reserved, and they had put their customers on schedule. 5.30pm one round, then 7pm another round. (same thing happened with our seafood dinner on mother's day) and they rejected at least another 10 tables of walk in customers, cause they just dont have enough tables.

Most of the dishes are normal stuff, but they're good =)
Fried Long Bean

Fried Mantis
Lala Fried Meehoon
Fried Oyster
Teo Chew Style Steam Fish

Fried Crab with Belacan and Curry leaves
OK la. That's all for tonight. Gotta go sleep and have a fresh morning for the new chapter of my life =)

On-boarding

Yay... finally its officially confirmed... I'll start working on 18 June =)

Just cant wait to end my procrastination, which I felt had made my physical fitness far worse than when I was in my final semester. Been sleeping and eating too much, and zero exercising ever since I left Skudai... and i'm gaining weight..

New phase of life is going to unfold...

OGA 2007

Yesterday I have visited one of the most luxuriously decorated exhibition that I've ever seen. Probably that's because most of the time, I only visited some general themed expos such as the Matta Fair and Career Fair...

OGA - Asian Oil, Gas and Petrochemical Engineering Exhibition
13-15 June 2007
Kuala Lumpur Convention Center

I found out bout this expo from the paper, and coincidently Az sms me the same nite asking whether I'm attending this expo, and he said he's gonna buy me lunch =P Well of course with a free lunch awaiting (and I myself wanted very much to visit this expo), and according to az, plenty of freebies awaits... Haha...

I got there around 10.30am. The expo opens from 10am to 6pm on 13-14 June, and from 10am to 5pm on 15 June. But I had to queue up to register myself and redeem a visitor's pass, and the queue was almost half a mile long!!! (according to some Scomi ppl...) It took me one whole hour to line up just to get the entry pass... And I was already half dead when I got hold of it... (I was wearing high heels and office wear)...

And finally...

Aiya... wrong spelling of my name pulak... But I felt really happie to see my company's name =P

So I waited for Az and Usop to get their tags and we entered the expo. The 1st thing that I said to Az was..."see? SLB is always the biggest..." (he's gonna work for SLB)

SLB Booth

Honestly saying, this was the 1st time that I saw booth with 2 levels... maybe I'm too sua ku =P
I wonder how much they paid for this booth; they had a lounge on the 2nd level with couches, and they're giving out free coffees. On the ground level, they have their product and model displays and a counter giving out freebies (bags and pens).

Shell's booth

Very futuristic and classy booth, but probably because it's too spacious (and shell's not giving out freebies), it had less visitors. But it has a lounge and coffee counter too =)

Petronas' Booth

I think the most interesting part about Petronas' booth is their F1 Driving simulator. Anyone can try out on the simulator and the best driver of the day will win a prize =)
and the 2nd most interesting thing would be the complete map of Malaysia indicating all the oil and gas blocks along with their operators. That was really informative, especially for newbies like me...

Technip's booth

They've got a very nice SPAR model on display, and if you go near to it, one of their managers will enthusiastically explain to you how special their SPAR is, and how their global analysts team have made their SPAR stable itself without the need of mooring lines =)
And oh ya, their HR ppl asked me to promote on this - pass your resume to them and they'll give you an optical mouse for free!!

It was indeed a fruitful visit, not only I got to see all these interesting technologies, I also managed to meet up with friends and Gouramians =)

Bali Travel Diary - Day 2

Day 2

Woke up at 8am, changed and packed my small backpack, and went for a walk around the hotel. We spent our 1st 2 nites in Green Garden Hotel, a small yet beautiful hotel located in Tuban area. I was very amazed at its architectural design, how the designer cleverly fitted so many rooms and a lovely swimming pool in such a small piece of land (which i think could fit a lobby for a normal Msia hotel).

View of the hotel from my room balcony

Reception cum restaurant

Looking up to my room from the poolside

Lovely swimming pool

Buffet breakfast - eat all you can =)

After breakfast, me and garfield decided to folo Bao to tour around Denpasar, while the rest of the tourmates decided to walk around Kuta area on foot. and so we went to look around at the small shops around the hotel area while waiting for Bao and our transport to come...

Actually all these shops sell similar products, like clothes, surf pants, wood craft souvenirs...
I got mouth-itchy and asked for the price for surf pants... then it started... the lady keep stopping us from leaving, price for the surf pants dropped from 60k per piece to 100k for 4 pcs. So we "thought" that the deal's not bad, and so we bought them. (and later in the afternoon, we realized that some place is selling at 25k per piece o.O")

Finally when we met up with Bao and her bf (and of course the pajero), we headed straight for lunch around Denpasar area...

the famous Babi Guling - different parts of the pig, cooked in 7 ways
this meal cost around IDR 16750 per pax, inclusive of a fruit juice

After lunch, we moved on to a popular spot for souvenir shopping - Denpasar Art Market.
But unfortunately...

Everything above 2nd floor got burnt till nothing left... and it just happened a few days ago...
But we had fun visiting their local wet market, which is very similar to what we have in Msia...

While we're eating all the big big fishes in the restaurants, this is the only kind of fish that I saw in their wet market...

Almost 30 % of the stalls are selling items that are used in worshipping...

Fresh Flower petals for sale... buy a bag then you can have your own flower bath in hotel =)

Yummy roast chicken...

Some delicious looking local delicacies that we didn't get to try...

Cute aunty... haha...

-to be continued-

Bali Travel Diary - Day 1

I know this is a bit late... but i just got really lazy as i'm 90% done with the chinese version of this travel diary =P
But now with only a few days left before I start working, I just gotta finish up all these unfinish business fast...

Day 1

7am - 9 of us (7 coursemates plus Bao and her bf) gathered at KL Sentral. We then took a bus to LCCT, paid RM 8 for that. Plenty of buses there, apart of the services provided by Airasia, also got other operators such as Aeroline. So no worries if you plan to travel to LCCT by bus.

Almost 8.30am - 5 mins away from LCCT, we suddenly get a call from AZL. "Take ur time, no hurry to come to LCCT, cause.... flight delayed by 2 hrs."
Sienz... 11am delay to 1.10pm.... There goes my well-planned lunch at Bamboo Corner (we still managed to dine there, check out Day 2 dinner)

Spent whole morning berborak-borak and loitering around LCCT. Then when we checked in at the counter, a bigger shock came - one of my tour mate's passport's validity is less than 6 months and he's not allowed to board the plane!!!!

o.O"

I got pretty down at that time, felt really bad about this "good" start of our tour...

And so our dear KF quickly changed his air ticket to the next day's flight, and he rushed right away to the Immigration Dept in Damansara to renew his passport...
(thank God he managed to renew within 2 hrs, mind you the time he left LCCT is almost 12pm ady... that's quite miraculous and he joined us on Day 2)

And finally.... finally... we boarded the plane and took off for paradise...

Postcard that I got from Airasia =P

The flight took approximately 3 hrs. At 4pm, we landed at Denpasar' Ngurah Rai Airport. Then 11 of us picked up our luggages and rushed to the "karma kecil" (toilet)... imagine a bunch of sua ku looking youngsters gathered outside of toilet with tons of luggages... haha..

Then we quickly rushed out (rushed again) to find our tour guide Beni as we have the "sun" to catch. We're supposed to reach Uluwatu before 6pm in order to catch the sunset and have enough time to loiter around the temple. and indeed as Beni has promised us, his blue van is really comfy...

Our nice blue van (with Bao and HY posing in front of it)
1 day rental - IDR 500k
half day rental - IDR 300 k

On our way to Uluwatu, Beni keep reminded and warned us that the monkeys at Uluwatu are no friendly creatures that love to steal things from the visitors, and they really fancy about glasses... And so....

Our macho men have all got themselves a stick to hit monkeys...haha... (scare them actually). and thanks to them, we had a safe journey around Uluwatu...
But of course with plenty of shouting... wei wei monkey behind you... on the tree on the tree...
By the way, the entrance fee to Uluwatu is IDR 3000 per pax...

But the scenary there is really captivating...

We left Uluwatu at about 6.30pm, and we headed to Jimbaran for the famous beach front seafood dinner. Some of my tourmates had complaint that the dinner is too expensive compared to the quality of the meal, well, me and Bao ady knew about that, but we thought that dining on the beach is some experience worth trying and we were prepared to spend that sum... So to me, its pretty cool to eat while watching the waves splashed several meters away from me... And the live band is so cool....

Err... i know its blur... forgive me for not being familiar with the camera and hence produced such lousy photos =P but at least you get an idea of how we were seated... long table and everybody was facing the sea...

Err... i know its blur again =P that's the live band performing...

Beautiful crab... but shared by 5 person due to its high price tag =P

We ordered a total of 1.3 kg of squid... shared among 10 person...

Ikan Bakar...

We spent a grand total of IDR 577,610 for this meal... shared among 10 pax...
kinda expensive ler, somemore the seafood is not really that special... But i still enjoyed the ambience... superb for couple/newly-weds =)

And so after the dinner, Beni sent us back to our hotel and we checked in at about 9pm. Since there's still an hour before the shop closes, we went out to walk around Tuban area right after we dropped our luggage into our rooms...

There are a lot of small shops along the main street, and after walking for about 5 mins, we arrived at the famous Discovery Mall...

Nothing really that special about this mall, except that we found Rotiboy here... what a surprise... Shops inside are very much alike as those shopping malls in Malaysia... and things are of course much more expensive compared to those street-side shops...

.....end of day 1....
